Verified history
The preparation is explicitly linked to San Giuseppe, patron saint of Leonessa. The bean flour recalls the saint’s simple Lenten food and charity to the poor. Oral testimony says the written recipe was recorded in 1976, when the sweet was still called "Torta di San Giuseppe".

Sugar, eggs, vegetable margarine, broad-bean flour, almonds, spelt flour, butter, candied fruit mix, raisins, multiflower honey, leavening, apricot glaze, puffed spelt and natural flavorings.
